I live with five cats, four male, one female--who refuses to use the same litter box as the boys and has her own in a separate room. That leaves four male cats, and they are large male cats, to use one litter box, and quite frankly life would pretty close to unbearable without the Littlermaid Mega Self-Cleaning Litter Box.
This is not to say that a Littlemaid box will solve every cat litter problem you have. In a multi-cat house, where the box is in constant use, the motor generally burns out in a year or a year and a half, and when that happens you will have to purchase anew. That said, litter can clog the rake, which must then be cleaned, and large clumps of litter can jam the box entirely, which must then be cleaned. You should also give the box a thorough cleaning from time to time as well.
But you know what? It's still a helluva lot easier than the basic tray-and-scoop. If you have a cat, and especially more than one cat, this is the way to go without question. Strongly recommended.
